Meet the dedicated family behind Mayflower Community Gardens—veteran-owned, family-operated, and committed to compassionate care since 1999.
Doc AC founded Mayflower Community Gardens in 1999 with a vision to create a home-like care environment that honors dignity, independence, and community. As a U.S. Army veteran, Doc brings firsthand understanding of the unique needs of veterans and a deep commitment to service. His military background and family values inform every aspect of how Mayflower operates—from the emphasis on low staff turnover to the focus on building genuine relationships with residents and families
Mayflower Community Gardens is proudly owned and operated by Doc AC (Austin Conner) and his wife Stepheny, a veteran family with deep roots in service and care. With 41 years of dedicated military service, Doc AC retired as a pharmacist, bringing both medical expertise and the values of honor, duty, and compassion to everything we do.Together with their four grown children, the Conner family has built a caring community that feels like home. For 25 years, we’ve been serving veterans, disabled adults, and seniors with the same level of dedication and respect that Doc AC brought to his military service.
Founded by a U.S. Army veteran who understands military service and sacrifice
Family-owned and operated for over 25 years with consistent, caring leadership
Quarter century of experience providing compassionate, dignified care
Deep commitment to our residents, families, and local community
Mayflower Community Gardens was founded in 1999 by Doc AC, a U.S. Army veteran who envisioned something different in senior and disability care. After his military service, Doc witnessed firsthand the gaps in compassionate, affordable care for veterans, disabled adults, and seniors. He believed there had to be a better way—a place that felt like home, where residents were treated like family, not numbers.
From the beginning, Mayflower has been built on principles Doc learned in the military: duty, honor, commitment, and taking care of your people. These values remain at the heart of our operation today. As a family-owned business, we’ve maintained consistency in our leadership, our staff, and our approach to care for over 25 years.
What makes Mayflower unique is our low staff turnover and family involvement. When you call Mayflower, you’re not reaching a corporate call center—you’re speaking directly with people who know your loved one by name. Our family leadership team is actively involved in daily operations, ensuring that the personal touch and values that defined us from day one continue to guide every decision we make.
Today, we’re proud to carry forward Doc AC’s vision: providing dignified, compassionate care in a warm, supportive environment. Whether you’re a veteran, a senior needing assistance, or a disabled adult seeking community, you’ll find more than just care at Mayflower—you’ll find family.
“I started Mayflower because I wanted to create the kind of place I’d be proud to have my own family members live. That’s still our standard today—if it’s not good enough for our family, it’s not good enough for yours.”
— Doc AC, Founder
